Founded in 1948, the company was bought by Jörg Maskow with eight employees back in 2003. His vision was to build mould making machines for paste-like substances, which would then be marketed globally. Today, the company supplies its products to a variety of leading bakeries and a range of foodstuff, chemical and pharmaceutical companies. With approximately 50 employees, the firm is one of the market leaders in its sector. K&S also offers a return purchase guarantee for every machine it sells. Machines that are returned are completely overhauled and sold to secondary markets.

Jörg Maskow sees the technical mould rolling principle and his modular machine designs as the basis for success: “The mechanical design [of our products] is always similar, so that our engineers and technicians employ the same modular system as a basis for customer solutions. Consequently, K&S uses many identical components that can be produced cost-effectively. This modular design also allows us to respond very flexibly and quickly to customer requirements,” he says.

Modular design is key to flexibility and speed

K&S machines are not designed for a specific product, such as the case for the mono systems of other manufacturers having a large footprint. It is solely the mould rollers that create the shape and design of the end product. They are pressed into the material and then ejected, and can be exchanged in just a few minutes. The confectionery manufacturer only has to change the feed material to switch from star-shaped cookies to marzipan hearts.
