For five decades, Strack Norma’s flat latch locks have provided controlled movement and reliable locking of moving mould components. With the new Z41 flat latch lock, Strack Norma takes this proven principle a step further.

Requirements in tool and mould making have changed: moulds are becoming larger, mould plates heavier and mould functions more complex. At the same time, the available installation space is limited. Designers therefore need solutions that can handle higher forces without taking up additional space in the mould. This is where the new Z41 comes in.

It was developed for applications requiring high pulling and locking forces. Moving mould plates, core pulls and other mould components can be moved in a controlled manner and reliably locked at the end of their intended travel. This provides additional safety, particularly under high loads and when using heavy mould plates.

New latch geometry for higher performance

At the technical heart of the Z41 is a newly developed latch geometry. A control pin precisely guides the locking movement, ensuring controlled and repeatable operation.

The optimised geometry improves force transmission and load distribution within the system. This enables the Z41 to withstand significantly higher pulling and locking forces than previous solutions.

At the same time, stress on the loaded contact and locking surfaces is specifically reduced. This reduces wear and has a positive effect on maintenance intervals and service life.

More performance and design freedom

For mould designers, the Z41’s compact yet powerful design means one thing above all: greater design freedom.

Despite its ability to transmit higher forces, valuable installation space remains available for cooling circuits, sensors and other mould components. Depending on the application, additional or larger locking solutions may no longer be necessary.

The new generation also offers significant advantages in production. Its increased locking capacity reduces the risk of unintended movement of mould components, supporting a stable and repeatable production process.

The result: greater safety within the mould, less wear and higher availability in day-to-day production.
