Voltatron has signed an agreement with Prettl Beteiligungs Holding to acquire all shares in Kurz Elektronik. Based in Althengstett, Germany, the company develops and manufactures customised electronic solutions for industrial applications and the household appliance sector.

The acquisition will extend Voltatron’s value chain with capabilities in cable assembly, plastic injection moulding and toolmaking. The company will also gain additional engineering expertise, electronic manufacturing services capacity and access to proprietary products and technologies.

Founded by Gerhard Kurz in 1965, Kurz Elektronik initially manufactured electronic controls and switches for household appliances. The company entered electronics manufacturing in 1993 and subsequently established a production facility in Lithuania. It became part of the Prettl Group in 2016.

Acquisition broadens manufacturing portfolio

Kurz Elektronik contributes engineering resources as well as capacity for medium- and high-volume production. Its technology portfolio includes sensors, motor-control systems, battery management, user interfaces and Internet of Things applications.

The acquisition will also add the Lithuanian manufacturing facility to Voltatron’s European production network. The site provides capacity for volume production, while Kurz Elektronik’s engineering activities are concentrated at its technology centre in Althengstett.

Christian Eibach, CSO of Voltatron, emphasised: “Kurz Elektronik is an excellent fit for Voltatron and for our approach of providing customers with a comprehensive solution offering across the entire value chain. Through the integration, we are expanding our portfolio with strategically important manufacturing and process technologies, particularly in cable assembly and plastic injection molding. These capabilities are increasingly being requested by many customers as integral components of a holistic development and manufacturing offering. In addition, we are investing immediately in the systems landscape, automation, and process optimization at Kurz Elektronik in order to support the company’s anticipated scaling opportunities.”

The Lithuanian plant operates several surface-mount technology and through-hole technology production lines. Voltatron expects the acquisition to expand its ability to develop and manufacture complex electronic systems for customer-specific projects.

Kurz Elektronik employs approximately 170 people and generated revenue of around €14 million in the 2025 financial year.

Investments planned in production and automation

Following the planned consolidation of Kurz Elektronik on 1 September 2026, Voltatron has raised its 2026 revenue forecast from between €47 million and €51 million to between €54 million and €57 million.

The company plans to invest in Kurz Elektronik’s systems, machinery and processes. The measures include a new enterprise resource planning system, updated manufacturing equipment, further automation and process optimisation. The associated investment and integration costs are expected to offset much of the acquired company’s initial earnings contribution in 2026.

Prettl Group becomes a Voltatron shareholder

Voltatron will acquire half of the shares in Kurz Elektronik for cash. Prettl Beteiligungs Holding will contribute the remaining 50 per cent in return for newly issued Voltatron shares. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Martin Hartmann, CEO of Voltatron, stated: “Joining forces with Kurz Elektronik brings us a decisive step closer to our goal of positioning Voltatron as a vertically integrated technology provider while significantly strengthening our competitive position in the market. We are particularly pleased that the Prettl Group shares our strategic vision for this combination and will participate in Voltatron’s future development as a shareholder.”

Subject to approval by the supervisory board, Prettl Beteiligungs Holding will receive 468,259 newly issued Voltatron shares as consideration for its stake in Kurz Elektronik.

Integration into the Voltatron Group provides a compelling development perspective for Kurz Elektronik. Our participation in Voltatron through a capital increase in kind as part of the transaction underlines our conviction regarding the strategic fit and opportunities of this partnership. We look forward to closely following the company’s future development from our investor’s perspective.”
