Rising production costs and changing supply chains are pushing manufacturers to rethink processes and partnerships. Intec and Z 2027 will address these challenges through automation, additive manufacturing and international networking, with a new start-up area adding fresh perspectives to the Leipzig trade fair programme.

Leipzig will become the central meeting point for Central European manufacturing technology and industrial subcontracting. For four days, Intec — with its focus on machine tools, manufacturing and automation technology — and Z — as a strong partner for parts, components, assemblies and digital services — will put efficient production processes centre stage. Numerous market leaders, including Yamazaki Mazak, Index, Niles-Simmons, Paul Horn and United Machining, have already registered. Trade visitors from the machinery, plant engineering and vehicle manufacturing sectors can therefore look forward to a high-calibre platform that directly connects practical solutions with future-oriented topics such as the latest additive manufacturing processes and innovative production technologies for hydrogen technology.
“With their focus on the Central and Eastern European market, Intec and Z 2027 will provide important impetus for the manufacturing and subcontracting industries,” explains Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. “This is where market leaders and users meet directly — whether to set the agenda on technical topics, secure cross-border supply chains or open up new markets. In 2027, Leipzig will be the place where personal exchanges turn into concrete business.”
“Intec will be Germany’s most important industry meeting point for metalworking in 2027. Here, trade visitors can not only experience innovative tooling solutions, modern metrology and forward-looking manufacturing technologies live, but also engage directly with users, manufacturers and researchers to provide fresh impetus for the industrial future,” adds Markus Heseding, Managing Director of the VDMA Precision Tools and Measuring and Testing Technology associations, which provide institutional and technical support for the event. “That is why we and our member companies are actively involved in Intec, for example at Forum.interaktiv, and help shape knowledge transfer within the industry.”
Practical knowledge for day-to-day manufacturing
Alongside the comprehensive exhibition, the Intec and Z conference programme will address key developments in the industry. As a knowledge platform, Forum.interaktiv will explore proven approaches to improving efficiency and automation in everyday production. Experts from industry and research will discuss advancing digitalisation, modern manufacturing strategies and solutions for greater energy and material efficiency. On 5 March, the focus will be on tomorrow’s skilled workforce. At the industry’s young talent day, apprentices, students and aspiring engineers will meet exhibiting companies directly.
The Additive Manufacturing Technology Forum will also offer forward-looking perspectives. Throughout the exhibition, it will focus on the further development of industrial 3D printing. Alongside a look at this innovative technology, the focus will be on its seamless integration into manufacturing industry.
Meeting one another: New start-up area and International Welcome Lounge
The Intec-Z Start-ups Area will provide fresh impetus for the manufacturing world for the first time. It will offer young companies a dedicated platform to present smart software solutions, novel technologies and innovative processes. Companies can apply for the area until 15 January 2027.
The International Welcome Lounge organised by the Saxony Economic Development Corporation will facilitate cross-border networking and the establishment of new supply chains. “Intec and Z have always set the pace for manufacturing technology and the subcontracting industry beyond Germany’s borders — particularly for our neighbouring European markets such as Poland and the Czech Republic,” emphasises Project Director Ulrike Lange. “With the newly designed International Welcome Lounge, we are specifically expanding the services available to our guests from abroad.” At the lounge, trade visitors will receive initial guidance, be able to take part in guided tours and receive active support in making contacts.
