Romania has developed into one of the most important automotive production locations in Eastern Europe: leading manufacturers are relocating production there, a dense supplier network has emerged, and with it demand is rising for highly precise, process-reliable tooling solutions. Simtek is prepared for this market: the company has its own sales representative in Romania, supporting direct customers and distribution partners locally. “We have a direct presence in Romania — that shows how important this market is for us. Manufacturing companies here are specifically looking for solutions that combine process reliability with economic efficiency, and that is exactly our approach,” explains Domenico Laurenza, Head of Marketing at Simtek. Metal Show & TIB in Bucharest offers direct access to specialists and decision-makers from across the region.

Laser-produced chip geometries for reliable chip control

3D laser-produced chip-form geometries enable reliable chip control even in difficult-to-machine materials and complex contours, making them a decisive factor in automated manufacturing processes. Uncontrolled chips can damage tools and components and lead to costly rework. Laser-structured tools address this issue by directing the chip out of the machining zone in a controlled manner, thereby increasing process reliability even at high throughput rates.

Modular milling tool system with monoblock stability

The Simmill 9W milling tool system follows the Monodular principle. It combines the stability of monoblock tools with the economic efficiency of modular systems. Compared with purely monoblock tools, material consumption is significantly lower, an argument that is gaining weight in view of rising carbide prices. In the standard range, up to 12 cutting edges are used for milling depths of up to 16.5 mm; in the custom range, the options in terms of diameters, widths and depths are even broader. The system is suitable for grooving, parting and slot milling, particularly in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries.

Adjustable-length holders for flexible small-batch production

Simtek will also present adjustable-length tools that enable users to achieve a high degree of flexibility in small-batch production with fewer tool variants. Simtek’s adjustable-length carrier tools are specifically designed for small-batch manufacturing and allow users to respond quickly and flexibly to changing requirements. Thanks to their versatility and the reduction in tool variety, the adjustable-length holders are not only particularly economical and flexible, but also ensure maximum stability and precision despite the additional interface, due to the patented ME clamping principle. The range covers a broad spectrum of applications: from boring tools for machining small bores from Ø 4.7 mm with Simturn AX, to tools for applications such as boring, grooving or threading in bores from 7.0 mm with Simturn DX, through to three-edged boring tools in the Simturn PX group for bores from Ø 10.5 mm. “Anyone who wants less setup effort, less inventory and still the same precision will find exactly the right tool in our adjustable-length holders,” emphasizes Domenico Laurenza.

Custom tools for any challenge

The tool developers at Simtek also continuously think beyond the boundaries of the standard range in order to provide customers with the best possible tooling solution for their application. With more than 10,000 custom developments each year, the company supports manufacturers in producing economically even at the smallest batch sizes. This is particularly relevant for medical technology and the machining of micro-parts, where special geometries and minimal diameters are often required.
