Since its launch in September, Haas Automation has sold 50 UMC 750 machines in Europe, European Managing Director Alain Reynvoet told ETMM Daily at the EuroMold show in Frankfurt, Germany. He said next year he expects to sell 150 units, with die and mould makers one of the key sectors. The price of almost €100,000 is about 50% lower than competitive machines.

The UMC 750 has axis travels of 762mm × 559mm × 508mm with an integrated dual-axis trunnion table. The machine is equipped with an inline direct-drive 40-taper spindle, available in 8,000 or 12,000 rpm versions, and comes with a 40+1 tool side-mount tool changer.

The trunnion can position parts to nearly any angle for 3+2-sided machining, or provide simultaneous 5-axis motion for contouring and complex machining.
