Yamazaki Mazak UK celebrated the company’s centenary by hosting a day of festivities and fun for all of its Worcestershire employees and their families at the Drayton Manor Theme Park recently.

Yamazaki Mazak UK, with its European Headquarters in Worcester since 1987, celebrated the company’s 100th anniversary recently by treating over a thousand people to a fun day at the famous tourist attraction, Drayton Manor Theme Park.

Adults and kids alike enjoyed themselves on roller-coasters and rides, enjoying a buffet as well as a thank you for all their efforts that have contributed to Mazak reaching this major milestone.

“Despite its size and global manufacturing capability, Mazak remains a family business both in terms of its ownership and its culture,” said Mazak's European Group Managing Director Richard Smith.

Established in 1919 in Nagoya, Japan, Mazak started-off in the early days making machines for mat weaving. The machine tool manufacturer has since then grown into one of the globe’s largest manufacturers of machine tools. Today, it has ten manufacturing sites across the world. The company’s European headquarters and manufacturing site in Worcester has over 600 employees. As one of the most advanced manufacturing site, the facility produces more than 1,000 machine tools annually for UK machine tool users and European export.

Richard added: “This was our way of saying thank you for everyone’s hard work, both in terms of manufacturing our machines and also their contribution to making Mazak a great place to work.”
