With the new WPR-AP indexable insert, LMT Kieninger, a member of the LMT Tools Group, is expanding its portfolio to include a high-performance and versatile solution for finishing and semi-finishing. The optimised cutting edge geometry, newly developed LCHK05M cutting material and innovative Nanomold Red³ coating enable high performance and cutting speeds — whilst delivering high process reliability, a 30 percent increase in tool life and excellent surface quality.

According to LMT Tools, the WPR-AP indexable insert can reduce tooling costs in a range of applications typically performed with solid carbide tools. The spherical copying cutter is compatible with LMT Kieninger’s existing holder systems, including screw-in, steel and solid carbide holders, allowing users to retain their existing holders when switching to the new insert.

Universal finishing

The WPR-AP is designed for machining steel, cast steel, high-temperature-resistant materials and hardened steels up to 60 HRC, and thus covers a wide range of applications for demanding machining tasks. Typical areas of application include die and mould making, mechanical engineering and energy technology.

“With the WPR-AP, we offer our customers a high-performance, universal solution for finishing and semi-finishing, enabling them to increase their productivity and reduce their tooling costs,” says Jens Slaby, Head of the Indexable Milling Product Line at LMT Tools. “Wherever precision, process reliability and cost-efficiency are required, the new ball-nose copy cutter really comes into its own. Never has the switch from solid carbide tools to modern indexable insert copy cutters been so easy.”

The indexable insert is available in sizes ranging from 10 mm to 32 mm.
