Mould makers to benefit from strategic cooperation

This summer GF and EOS agreed to co-operate on the development of exclusive solutions for mould makers. Pascal Boillat, head of GF Machining Solutions and Langer believe that combining both companies' technologies will benefit the tool and die sector, a market in which GF holds a leading position thanks to its EDM, high-speed milling, laser texturing and automation products.

“Being a Swiss company, we are not the cheapest in the world, but we offer a very high-end range of machinery, which will now be complemented by AM technology,” Boillat explains. “Either you develop it yourself, or you collaborate with a global leader. For us collaboration was the best solution. EOS is also a leader in its field and we have the experience to take the next step towards industrialisation.”

Based on proven and successful EOS technology – the EOS M 290 DMLS system – the new Agie Charmilles AM S 290 tooling solution is designed to address the mould and die industry’s need to produce innovative mould inserts using AM. GF and EOS will undertake the integration of the AM machines into the production process of mould inserts, including the necessary software and automation link with downstream machine tools and measuring devices, Boillat and Langer say.
