Taipeiplas 2026 Smart manufacturing meets the circular economy in Taipei

Smart manufacturing, circular materials and changing international plastics markets will shape Taipeiplas 2026. Alongside technology presentations, the programme will examine recycling, supply chain resilience and practical approaches to reducing disposable waste.

Taipeiplas 2026 will take place from 15 to 19 September at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1. Under the slogan “Form to Future”, the trade fair will focus on smart manufacturing, innovative materials, sustainability and the circular economy. Its programme will include the Taipeiplas Forum, the Taipeiplas Award, Plastic Market Insights and a dedicated sustainability pavilion.

Plastic Market Insights will examine plastics and rubber markets in Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa and Southeast Asia. The programme will provide information on regional industry developments, market trends and emerging business opportunities.

A featured session at the Taipeiplas Forum, “Circular Materials: Technological Breakthroughs & Value Transformation”, will address geopolitical uncertainty, fluctuating raw material prices and supply chain challenges. The discussion will cover mechanical and chemical recycling, energy-efficient smart equipment and functional additives, exploring how circular materials could reduce dependence on primary resources and make supply chains more resilient. BASF, Arburg, Nittobo and Milliken will present technologies and industry perspectives.

The Taipeiplas Award 2026 recognises innovation within Taiwan’s plastics and rubber industry. It is intended to encourage manufacturers to combine innovative design with advanced production technologies, increase product value and present new products and machinery to international buyers. This year, 21 entries from 17 companies have been shortlisted. The final selection will take place on 16 September, with the award ceremony scheduled for the same evening.

Reflecting international efforts to reduce plastics consumption and waste while keeping resources in circulation, the Care About Tomorrow Pavilion will examine circular sustainability through four themes: “See,” “Transform,” “Coexist,” and “Choose.” Reusable wooden pallets will form part of the displays. “Gugu Coins”, produced from marine waste collected on Xiaoliuqiu, will be used as voting tokens before being returned to the island for further use after the trade fair.

Taipeiplas 2026 is also partnering with Living Fountain and uCup to offer a reusable cup rental service throughout the exhibition. The initiative supports Taiwan’s efforts to reduce the use of disposable beverage cups and encourages exhibitors and visitors to avoid single-use waste.
