The international product safety standard for PV DC connectors IEC 62852 has been released in 2014. Besides UL 6703, it has been the benchmark for global PV DC connector certification and is the point of reference throughout the entire PV industry. In May 2020, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has published a new amendment: IEC 62852:2014/Amd1:2020.

Stäubli Electrical Connectors is very delighted to announce that its entire PV DC connectors’ portfolio has been certified as world’s first in respect of the new amendment. The company successfully passed the required test sequences at TÜV Rheinland in Cologne, Germany for the Original MC4 Cable Coupler and MC4 Panel Receptacle aswell as for the MC4-Evo 2 Cable Coupler and MC4-Evo 2 Panel Receptacle.

“As a pioneer for PV DC connectors since 1995 and with a current market share of almost 50 percent of the globally installed PV capacity, it is of great importance to us that our products meet the highest requirements, which is guaranteed by such certification, in order to make PV systems continuously safer,” emphasises Matthias Schuerch, Head of Global Product Management Alternative Energies at Stäubli Electrical Connectors.
