Fakuma 2026 Smart Resourcing targets lower material costs in injection moulding

Cost-efficient compound formulations, lightweight components and recyclate-based materials will shape the company’s presentation at Fakuma 2026. The exhibits range from blowing-agent masterbatches and thermally conductive plastics to high-performance compounds for an autonomous agricultural drone.

At Fakuma in Friedrichshafen from 12 to 16 October 2026, Lehvoss will highlight the cost benefits customers can achieve through its Smart Resourcing concept. According to the company, typical projects deliver material cost savings of between 10 and 20 percent without compromising quality, security of supply or the level of technical service customers are accustomed to.

The company draws on a portfolio of established compound formulations developed over several decades. Where an existing formulation meets the requirements of an application, it can be adapted rather than developed from scratch. According to Lehvoss, this reduces development work and project lead times, resulting in lower overall costs.

“For Lehmann & Voss, this is a new business field — not a change of course,” says Harald Hunke, Commercial Director Europe, Lehvoss Compounds. In the high-performance compound segment, Lehvoss offers its Luvocom product range, while Luvotech and Luvotech eco cover engineering and recyclate-based compounds. The new offering builds on formulations developed over several decades. According to the company, this existing portfolio enables more cost-efficient solutions without requiring each formulation to be developed from the ground up.

“Our customers are facing tough international competition. They are fighting — and we are fighting at their side,” Hunke continues. “That is why we offer proven compound quality at prices that hold their own in global comparison. This applies to running applications, where switching materials now pays off, as well as to new projects — where our customers decide for themselves whether the advantage goes into the price or into better material properties for the same budget.”

One example is the Luvobatch range of blowing-agent masterbatches. According to Lehvoss, these can reduce component weight by up to 25 per cent in injection moulding applications such as door panels and luminaire housings, while maintaining properties including impact resistance and dimensional stability. The company also points to shorter cycle times and, depending on the application, lower processing temperatures, which can reduce machine utilisation and energy costs.

The Compounds business unit of Lehvoss will once again present itself at Fakuma 2026 as a pioneer of polymer solutions in the spirit of Smart Resourcing. The trade fair presence centers on real-world applications that impressively demonstrate the performance of the Luvotech, Luvotech eco, and Luvocom grades used.

A trade fair highlight is an autonomous agricultural drone whose components are largely made from Lehvoss compounds. The application exemplifies how technically high-grade materials can be combined with economical material solutions. At the same time, it underlines the performance of the compounds in demanding lightweight applications and in the functional integration of complex components.

The performance of modern drones is largely determined by the efficiency of their propellers. With specially developed high-performance compounds, Lehvoss Compounds offers material solutions for propeller blades that combine low weight with exceptional strength and stiffness. The carbon fiber (CF) compounds are based on Lehvoss’s XCF technology. The result: propeller blades with a flexural strength of up to 527 MPa and a flexural modulus of 31 GPa. At the same time, the components are up to 50 percent lighter than aluminum and 43 percent lighter than comparable PA66-GF50 solutions. Due to the significant weight reduction and high structural strength, drone manufacturers can increase flight performance, reduce energy consumption, and extend range. In addition, the materials contribute to lower noise emission and improved fatigue strength of the propellers.

Another exhibit is a work light made from Luvotech eco TC, a range of thermally conductive plastics based on mechanically recycled raw materials. According to Lehvoss, the materials achieve thermal conductivity of up to 18 W/mK and a carbon footprint up to 60 percent lower than that of comparable virgin materials. They are produced using electricity from renewable sources and are intended for applications in lighting and thermal management where heat dissipation, material efficiency and regulatory requirements relating to the circular economy are relevant.
