Artificial Intelligence (AI) has moved well beyond the buzzword stage, and the tool and mould making industry is no exception. With the global AI market projected to grow at a steep pace through the next decade, manufacturers are increasingly weaving AI-powered solutions into core production workflows and CAD/CAM is where much of that transformation is now visible. Major players such as Siemens, Mastercam and Open Mind Technologies have all incorporated AI-powered solutions directly into their platforms.
Artificial intelligence is moving beyond experimental applications in tool and mould making. Manufacturers are increasingly integrating AI-supported functions into production workflows, with CAD/CAM systems emerging as one of the principal areas of application. Software providers including Siemens, Mastercam and Open Mind Technologies have introduced AI-based tools intended to support design, programming and machining processes.
AI has developed rapidly across a wide range of industries, taking on tasks that previously depended largely on human judgement and expertise. According to market research company Grand View Research, the global AI market is projected to reach 3,497.26 billion dollars by 2033, representing a compound annual growth rate of 30.6 from 2026 to 2033.
