Smooth machining, high precision and efficient roughing

At EMO Hannover 2017, Jongen has presented a number of new products. Highlights were the newly developed face milling cutters Jongen Uni-Mill A20 and the milling programme Jongen Uni-Mill FP 70.

Uni-Mill FP 70, the new step milling programme, ensures smooth machining operations with high productivity and precision, Jongen says. The extensive tool range, consisting of shell-, shank-, screw-in and multi tooth milling cutters, enables universal applications such as face-, shoulder- and slot milling, ramping and contour milling. In this case, step-free milling can be obtained up to ap = 10 mm.

According to the company, different numbers of teeth (close and wide pitch) allow the application of tools for roughing and finishing as well as for big cavities. The 2-edge milling inserts of type FP 70 have a maximum working depth of up to 14mm and are available in precision sintered, precision ground as well as in precision ground and polished versions. Positive cutting geometries with stable cutting edges ensure smooth running with low vibration rates, and advanced geometries of milling inserts simultaneously enable secure mode of working procedures.

The milling inserts are available in different qualities for processing of all usual materials:

  • The carbide quality HC45, consisting of a very tough fine grain quality with power nitride coating, is preferred for the machining of steel.
  • The carbide qualities HC30 and XC35, consisting of hard wearing and tough finest grain hard metal quality combined with power nitride coatings, are particularly developed for stainless steel, duplex steel and hard-to-machine materials.
  • The carbide quality HC20 consists of a very hard wearing fine grain carbide quality with a power nitride coating and is the best choice for cast iron materials.
  • The carbide quality K15M consists of a very hard wearing fine grain hard metal quality and allows the machining of nonferrous heavy materials and aluminium.

The tools made of high-strength and tempered tool steel withstandhigh pressures, the nickel-coated surfaces increase resistance to reweldings and corrosion, Jongen says. All tools are equipped with internal coolant passages.

Face milling cutters for steel and other hard-to machine materials

Another new product by Jongen, the face milling cutter Uni-Mill A20, enables especially efficient roughing and finishing of steel, stainless steel and cast iron materials, Jongen says. These new tools convince by a high number of teeth, 8 effective cutting edges per milling insert and a very soft cutting manner, supported by an effectively positive rake angle. The milling programme includes shank type mills to DIN 1835-B and shell type mills with close and regular pitch. Different versions of number of teeth allow an optimum tool choice for the required machining process. The reversible milling inserts with 8 effective cutting edges have a highly positive chip breaker and are available in a precision sintered and a precision ground version. The axial depth of cut is max. 3,5mm.

The milling inserts are available in a number of qualities, for the machining of different materials like steel, cast iron and hard-to machine materials.
