In 2022, Stuttgart will be the venue of a new trade show: The first edition of the new trade fair for grinding technology, Grinding Hub, will be held from 17 to 20 May 2022. At the event, leading manufacturers will present their solutions for current trends in grinding technology.

With new PCD solid head milling cutters, Mapal is extending the possibility of machining carbide and other hard-brittle materials to smaller diameters.

Six Hurco 3-axis vertical machining centres carry out a majority of prismatic machining in the toolroom of plastic packaging manufacturer in Beccles, UK. Instead of subcontracting machining jobs, the company is now able to offer the production of bigger multi-cavity moulds, for instance.

Germany — On October 15th, the first site-planning phase for AMB 2022 began. The organiser, Messe Stuttgart, already reports over 940 registrations for the event.

Italy — Turkish tool manufacturer Turcar dominated the field of Anca's Tool of the Year competition with its multi-functional tool with axial and radial cutting features to machine five independent operations in one cycle.

When long-established cutting tool manufacturer AA Tools was acquired by new owners in 2014, the objective was to modernise the shop floor equipment with the very latest CNC machine tool technology. For the bespoke cutting tool manufacturer, the acquisition trail included a CNC tool and cutter grinder, a 4th-axis machining centre, a live tooling turning centre, an EDM drilling machine and a Mitsubishi MV1200R wire EDM machine from the Engineering Technology Group (ETG).

Switzerland — The manufacturer of high precision grinding machines Kellenberger, has developed a new solution for a tool manufacturer that simplifies the automation of grinding workpieces of different lengths.

From 4th to 9th October, Biberach-based Vollmer will be be presenting its sharpening machines and digital solutions for efficient and networked machining of cutting tools. One of the highlights on show will be the new VHybrid 260 grinding and erosion machine as well as the VLaser 370 laser machine. There will also be a world premiere in the form of a new tool grinding machine.

At this year’s EMO international machine tool exhibition, held in Milan on the 4 to 9 October 2021, on Stand F18 in Hall 3 Fial will launch a number of new ranges of steady rests, including Self-Centring steady rests; the Coolant Series with feed for the steady rest’s rollers; a Mini Series for multi axis lathes and mill-turn centres and a range of high accuracy steady rests for grinding applications.

Germany — In the cutting tool industry, the trend is moving away from standard tools towards more complex geometries that are specially adapted to the specific application. In order for manufacturers to be able to produce these special tools economically, smart solutions are required. Anca will be presenting the technology, software and automation that enables tool manufacturers to design multiple tool types and grind them in one batch at EMO Milano 2021 on stand F10 G09 in Hall 2.
