K 2019 / Progressive Components Insulator blocks for high-temperature tools

Components manufacturer Progressive Component recently released its new Insulator Block.

Progressive Components says that its new Insulator Block, installed on the outside of the mould, protects the company's Counter Views and CVe monitors from extreme temperatures when moulding high-temperature resins. The maximum temperature for the former is 120°C/250°F, and the CVe monitors is 90°C/190°F. With the Insulator Block installed, both units can perform with mould temperatures of up to 180°C/360°F, the company notes.

The Insulator Block can be installed on either half of the tool, but for the CVe monitor, the stationary side is recommended for optimal cable routing. Both units are available in inch and metric versions, complete with quarter-20 or M6 screws.

“More and more moulds are running higher-temperature materials,” says Glenn Starkey, president at Progressive. Starkey adds that it has become ‘standard equipment’ for tools to have a CV cycle counter or CVe mould monitor. The Insulator Block removes a barrier to those mould buyers specifying monitoring products on their tools.
