Branching out into the unknown

This willingness to branch out into working on moulds built by others may have something to do not only with her status as somewhat of a maverick, a woman in an industry still dominated by men, but also with her background. After her initial education, Kellermann performed her internship in extrusion die construction in South Africa, an experience she said has made her more open to new ideas. In fact, although her company remains highly reliant on automakers, she sees opportunities in other areas. “This is one of the challenges, to move outside of cars.”

Of course, at the moment, the auto industry is showing torrid growth: European car sales have risen for six straight months, and German carmakers set an export record to the US last year, so it seems they will remain, at least for the moment, a good outlet for good tooling, which is good news for Formenbau Kellermann.
