27% of exhibitors from the Far East; many machine tool, EDM companies missing

Indeed, a third of the 453 exhibitors came from the area of additive manufacturing and Demat claimed that nearly 27% of exhibitors were from the tool and mould-making industry.

Around 27% of all exhibitors came from Asia. As Schnabel said, they do not want to exclude or separate these two exhibitor groups from the show.

While the topic of additive manufacturing is certainly one to observe and one that will grow in future, there were quite a few essential technologies as part of the whole product development chain missing such as EDM or machine tools. Swiss company Fehlmann was the only one showcasing vertical machining centres and together with Belotti, Hakos and imes-icore the only one showing 5-axis machining centres, most of them for smaller parts, electrode machining or dental applications.

We will publish a final show report once the show is finished on Friday 25 September, but it will be interesting to see how the "new Euromold" has further developed when it opens its doors again next year, from 6 to 9 December 2016 in Düsseldorf.
