Renishaw announced the launch of a record-breaking application process for 70 graduate positions, 51 training positions and more than 60 internships at its sites in Gloucestershire and South Wales. This is encouraging because it means that investment is being made with eyes on the future. The training opportunities relate to positions in engineering, manufacturing, electronics design and development for embedded systems, software and IT.

Brexit is not the only factor affecting career opportunities

And the German subsidiary Renishaw GmbH in Pliezhausen near Stuttgart, in particular, is becoming more important in the realm of logistics and services, and not just because of Brexit. It is also the largest “offshoot” within the EU, the company emphasizes. For 2021, it is therefore also offering technically sound training in a good and informal working atmosphere with flexible working hours. There are currently apprenticeship training positions in the administrative area, in logistics as well as in mechatronics.

You'll be fully involved right from the start

“Since the apprenticeship program began around ten years ago, we have been able to take on most of the apprentices. This shows that we can inspire young people to work for Renishaw by offering a sound training program,” says a delighted Gwendolin Hinz, training and HR manager at Renishaw GmbH. The success can also be explained by the fact that trainees are heavily involved in projects from the very beginning. This brings a breath of fresh air and innovative ideas to the teams concerned. Ultimately, this helps Renishaw to successfully keep up with the strong dynamics in its market sector, Hinz emphasizes.

Ultimately, a long-term career in the technology company beckons

Ultimately, it is particularly important for Renishaw to have qualified employees with a broad range of expertise, the company adds. Because you go through various departments in the course of your training, you have the opportunity to network effectively within the company, which Hinz sees as a real plus for a long-term career.

On the commercial side, trainees have the opportunity to gain international experience during a three-week stay abroad at our headquarters in England, Hinz notes. Nevertheless, the pandemic is making things difficult, which is why this advantage can only be played out on a national level at the moment. As soon as the situation eases, however, there will be opportunities for a training visit to England again, Hinz promises.
