India is one of the emerging 3D printing markets with annual growth rates of more than 20 per cent. The Indian government wants to further promote the use of AM technologies on an industrial scale and has developed a national strategy for this purpose. The priority areas being promoted include applications in the medical, automotive, aerospace and aviation industries. The establishment and expansion of cooperations with companies and institutions in international business and science is to be intensified.

According to Messe Erfurt, the organiser of Rapidtech 3D, discussions with players in the Indian AM community have resulted in many starting points for cooperation. At the beginning of December, the organisers visited, among others, the AM-Tech Expo in Hyderabad, which is considered the largest AM-Tech trade fair event in India, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in Delhi, which represents over 1.5 million Indian companies, as well as the Indian German Science and Technology Center (IGSTC), which coordinates Indian-German research projects in the AM sector, among others. Meetings were also held with representatives of AMChronicle, a leading digital and print platform for AM in the Asia-Pacific region, and Trinity Media & Marketing Solutions, which organises various educational and event formats for the Indian AM community.

Messe Erfurt has signed memoranda of understanding with the managing director of AM-Tech Expo organiser CNT, Aditya Chandavarkar, and the owner of Trinity, Dr Shibu John. Details now reportedly need to be worked out. According to the trade fair organiser, this includes joint activities in public relations as well as mutual support in the organisation of AM events, including an Indian joint stand and a business trip to Rapid.Tech 2023 in Erfurt. It is also planned to win leading Indian representatives from the AM sector as keynote speakers for the Rapidtech 3D trade congress. Indian 3D printing expertise is also to be presented in workshops and a networking platform created for exchanges with potential partners. Rapidtech 3D will take place in 2023 from 9 to 11 May in Erfurt.
