Hermle said its three-module PW 3000 pallet changer has been designed to automate the company’s existing C 50 U/MT and C 60 U/MT machining centres, which accept workpieces up to 2,500kg.

The base module consists of the travel, lifting and rotary axes and a safety enclosure with hinged doors. The setup-station module, which is equipped with a rotating door, enables pallets to be set up in parallel to the production line, the company noted. Hermle pointed out that the one or two-layer rack module can accommodate up to eight pallets.

The supplier explained that the PW3000 offers simple and quick installation; unrestricted access to the working area for setup, manual interventions or calibration and cleaning tasks; and large-volume pallet storage for production-oriented and custom setup.

According to the manufacturer, the unit does not require floor anchorage. It weighs 3,000kg including standard-sized pallets.

In addition, it measures 1200 x 1400 x 980 mm and can store up to five or nine pallets, depending on the version, Hermle added.
