Trade fair promoters P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG extend their invitation to the next world’s leading trade fair for quality assurance (QA) from 5 - 8 May 2020: the 34thControl international trade fair for quality assurance. It’s the most important international technical event covering all aspects of vision technology, image processing and sensor technology, as well as measuring and test technology, the organisers promise. The business platform and the trade fair has long since become a driving force in industrial QA and attracts international market leaders to Stuttgart.

Quality assurance has been central to the industry and will only increase in importance with the continuous rise of Industry 4.0. The QA market is subject to continuous change. Driven by increasing automation, consistent networking, cost pressure and product individualisation in industrial manufacturing, the issue of quality assurance permeates all areas of production in all industry sectors. Rapid evolution is made plainly apparent by strong growth in the industrial image processing and vision systems sector. The organisers of the Control trade fair are keeping pace where transformation and quality improvement are concerned, and are advancing to the next level with cutting-edge product and service offerings which provide users with new approaches and comprehensive, genuine solutions to all problems related to industrial QA: next level quality assurance!

Focus on industrial image processing

Users from all industry sectors find the right equipment for zero-defects production — from mechatronic measuring technology and industrial image processing solutions right on up to robot-aided, consistently digitalised QA solutions for the production of diverse variants in flexible lot quantities. The trade fair introduces digitalisation to routine daily practice and makes it possible for users of test technology to conduct closed-loop data exchange in networked processes. Manufacturers and distributors of QA products and solutions offer interface-compatible modules, subsystems and complete installations for the automation and digitalisation of all production processes.

Alone with regard to the issue of industrial image processing, more than 250 Control exhibitors presented suitable components, modules, subsystems and complete solutions in 2019, and portrayed current worldwide offerings for industrial image processing, vision, camera and sensor systems. Image processing, involving routine daily industrial practice as well as intra-logistics and autonomous vehicles for freight forwarding and passenger traffic, substantiates the need and the necessity for the implementation of modern QA with future-oriented industrial image processing systems.

“The place to be!”

For numerous exhibiting companies, Control is the year’s most important trade fair — an industry event which has become increasingly international and hosts a 33 % share of foreign exhibitors. More than half of all meetings held at the event are already conducted in English. “Outstanding each and every year, again and again!” Was among the many positive statements given by Control attendees as Schall states.

Statements issued by trade fair participants in 2019 underscored the importance of Control as a globally recognised, leading technology, communication and business platform for all aspects of quality assurance in industrial production.

The trade fair is not just a showcase but an international networking platform for the industry as well. The international market leaders meet here to discuss the issue of zero-defects production with well-informed, highly interested visitors from actual industry practice, and to develop new solutions. 90 % of the expert visitors are directly involved in procurement decisions.

The show also has a supporting programme of different events and talks.

Technology transfer in dialogue in special events

Trade fair promoters P. E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG are expecting roughly 900 international exhibitors at Control 2020 and are rounding out the trade fair with a series of strong supporting events. The Fraunhofer IPA will once again host an event forum: the special show will deal with the issue of ‘Trends in Quality Assurance — Digitalisation, Automation and AI in Practice’. Trade fair visitors are provided with the opportunity of gathering comprehensive information in a targeted fashion concerning pioneering technologies and the possible uses of modern measuring and test technology.

Demonstrations will offer insights into how concepts involving digitalisation and automation can be applied in practice by means of, amongst other things, image and signal processing, as well as artificial intelligence methods such as machine learning. Emphasis is focused on practical implementation in the field of quality assurance. Furthermore, trade fair visitors are provided with the opportunity of identifying and evaluating AI applications for their own tasks.

The special show on ‘Contactless Measuring Technology’ will be held already for the 16th time by the Fraunhofer Vision Alliance and will present the latest developments and forward-looking technologies in the field of contactless measuring and test technology. The special trade fair guide for industrial image processing and vision systems will be available once again.

Last but not least, the exhibitor forum will also be offered as a highlight again in 2020: it’s conceived as a communication platform for supplementary information concerning the participating companies, as well as their technologies and their respective range of offerings. Making it the perfect place to discuss the current future trends of the industry with peers as well as a possible space for procurement.
