Achieving uniform, high-quality surfaces

In order to achieve a genuinely uniform, high-quality surface, the pendulum arm is equipped with a handpiece of a micro-grinding device. The latter's controller allows for infinite speed control. The Joke handpiece presses down vertically from above, at moderate speeds, onto the workpiece. The necessary weight on the workpiece is achieved by weights applied to the pendulum arm.

Furthermore, the handpiece is equipped with a flexible polishing plate on which various different polishing cloths can be used. Appropriate polishes are then used depending on the desired surface.

The perfect surface quality is achieved when the workpiece, which is fixed to the lapping disc, rotates on its own. The lapping machine and lapping plate speeds are likewise infinitely adjustable. The result can be assessed by tactile methods or optically by light wave measurement.

This solution allows users to achieve a finish on concave and convex surfaces using a surface- lapping machine, which was previously inappropriate to process convex or concave surfaces. Above all, the user saves time while at the same time achieving greater uniformity and consistent quality of the high-gloss lapping process – and therefore better results in the production process.
