The official press conference for Green Plast 2025 took place on 26 November. This international exhibition and conference focuses on materials, technologies for plastic and rubber processing, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The event, scheduled to be held in Milan from 27 to 30 May 2025, was attended by approximately 20 journalists representing national and international media outlets. The organisers considered the event a confirmation of Green Plast’s position as a key platform for promoting innovation and sustainability across the plastics supply chain.
Mario Maggiani, CEO of Promaplast, the event organiser, opened the press conference by describing Green Plast as a strategic opportunity for companies looking to exhibit. Its unique formula combines highly competitive exhibition space rates with in-depth discussions on green themes within the conference programme. “In terms of exhibition space sales, we are quite satisfied with the results achieved so far, particularly considering the current economic climate. Some challenges are mainly linked to the injection moulding sector, which is feeling the impact of the automotive industry crisis. Nevertheless, the number of exhibitors aligns with the figures recorded in November 2021. Green Plast’s strength lies in its competitiveness, thanks to the reduced cost of stands. Raw space is priced at 185 euros per square metre, while pre-fitted stands cost 80 euros per square metre. For areas up to 64 square metres, only pre-fitted stands are available, aiming to ensure a uniform appearance, one of the distinctive features of exhibition-conferences”.
Another key topic of the press conference was Green Plast’s role within the Innovation Alliance, a network of four leading trade fairs that are closely interconnected.
Green Plast, Ipack-Ima, Print4All, and Intralogistica will take place simultaneously, occupying nearly the entire Rho Pero exhibition centre in Milan. This collaboration will enable visitors to move freely across all pavilions, fostering cross-industry engagement.
AMI Conference highlights industry trends
Andy Beevers, Director of Events and Publishing at AMI, provided a preview of the main topics to be covered during the Shaping a Sustainable Future for Plastics conference, which will run throughout the four-day event. The conference will delve into critical issues such as sustainability, regulatory developments, design for recycling, and automation in material separation. It will place a strong emphasis on market trends and innovations shaping the future of the sector. The sessions will also focus on advancements in both mechanical and chemical recycling, offering a platform for technical discussions and fostering dialogue among industry stakeholders. This focus provides a unique opportunity to explore the potential of various recycling approaches, address technological challenges, and promote solutions aimed at making the plastics industry increasingly circular and efficient.
European regulations drive recycling progress
The conference continued with insights from Elizabeth Carroll, an AMI consultant, on the transformative impact of EU regulations and technological advancements in the recycling industry.
Among the topics discussed, special attention was given to targets for recycled content. The presentation highlighted that the combined efforts of policymakers, manufacturers, and consumers will be essential to achieving ambitious goals.
