Machining Equipment ETG Introduces New Nakamura Turning Centre
Source: Press release
Now available from The Engineering Technology Group (ETG) is the new SC-100X2 high-performance turning centre from Nakamura-Tome. Nakamura has developed the new SC-100X2 twin-spindle twin-turret turning centre as an advancement upon its predecessor, the SC-100.
With high-speed efficient one-hit turning being the core philosophy of this new machine, the SC-100X2 from Nakamura-Tome is 41 percent faster than the previous SC-100 machine. This is a credit to the sub-spindle X-axis and the lower turret that deliver greater flexibility and performance. Furthermore, this new edition demonstrates extremely fast and efficient programming with Nakamura’s intelligent software NT Thermo Navigator AI and Smart Support. In addition, the standard X and Z-axis on the right-hand spindle enhance simultaneous machining through overlapping control between the left and right-hand spindles. The X and Z slide travel on the right-hand spindle is 150 mm and 400 mm respectively.

The 51 mm bar capacity machine has a maximum turning capacity of 230 mm diameter with a maximum turning length up to 400 mm with the facility for a 6-inch chuck on both spindles. As expected from Nakamura, the new SC-100X2 demonstrates class-leading power and speed with an 11/7.5 kW 6000 rpm main spindle and a 7.5/5.5 kW 6000 rpm sub-spindle. This power and speed are complemented by an equally powerful milling spindle that generates 7.1/2.2 kW for machining the most challenging of materials and components. This machining performance is assured from the 6500 kg weight of the new Nakamura-Tome SC-100X2 that demonstrates unparalleled stability and rigidity for machining the most difficult of components.
