Ency Software has released version 2.9 of Ency, its CAD/CAM system, and Ency Robot. This update brings improvements to machining reports, operation statistics, and license administration, along with bug fixes and workflow enhancements.

The operation status window now shows the current Machining result volume in cm³, the Removed volume, and the Volume removal rate. For example, for the selected operation, the removed volume is 66.576 cm³ with a volume removal rate of 18.183 cm³/min. This gives a current workpiece volume of 1669.195 cm³ after machining in this operation. In other words, the operation removes about 4 percent of the workpiece volume in about 4 minutes. This data is also available through the API.

New parameters in the machining report

  • Tool changes count: A new Tool changes count parameter has been added for the machine, setup, or part.
  • Minimum bottom machining level: A new group of tool parameters has been added for operations: Toolpath min X/Y/Z and Toolpath max X/Y/Z. These parameters also make it possible to include the minimum bottom machining level for a specific operation in the machining report.
  • Updated toolpath information: The toolpath sections of the machining report have been updated. You can now include Work length and Working time in the report.
  • Save as… option in the report: Users can now select the file format and save location through a standard dialog window. Local PDF generation without an Internet connection is also supported.

Solidworks Reader licensing update

Starting July 1, 2026, access to Solidworks file integration in Ency is controlled by a separate licensed module: Solidworks Reader. Users who work with Solidworks files need this module included in their Ency license.

Usability improvements

The smart hints system has been updated with visual explanations for parameters in 4-axis operations, lathe operations, cladding operations, and 5D machining. In the Cladding 3D and Area cladding operations, Ency now supports smooth transitions between passes. Smoothing is performed using a Bezier spline. The Cladding 5D operation now includes axial and radial allowance parameters. The network license server application has also been updated. You can now view license usage statistics for a selected period, for example, who checked out a license and when during a given month. The Info, Version, Type, and Status fields have also been described in more detail.

Fixes

This release includes more than 180 fixes aimed at improving Ency stability, calculation accuracy, and interface predictability. The main changes include fixes for crashes and freezes during toolpath recalculation, simulation, operation execution, application shutdown, connection to network libraries, and network license use. Issues with opening and saving projects and importing 3D models in STEP/Parasolid format have also been resolved. Associativity with CAD systems has been improved. Errors have been fixed in machining toolpaths, collision visualization, step-by-step simulation, rotary strategies, NC program generation, and reports. Interface issues related to window display, the home page, and pop-up elements have also been fixed.
