As the technology partner for the Nakamura-Tome brand of powerful multi-tasking turning centres, the Engineering Technology Group (ETG) announced the arrival of a new precision CNC multitasking lathe. With the concept of ‘next level machining’, the new Nakamura-Tome SC-200II machine has evolved way beyond its predecessor, the SC-200.

The new SC-200II from Nakamura-Tome rigid single-turret multitasking lathe that can perform powerful and stable machining — even under challenging of conditions. Despite the machine being in the 8” chuck size class, it has a maximum turning diameter of 390 mm and a swing over the bed of 700 mm diameter, providing a large machining area for a small footprint machine. This also enables the machine to accommodate a 10” chuck. The output of the spindle motor has been increased to 15/11 kW with the option of an 18.5/15 kW motor, making this new addition far superior to its predecessor. In addition to the improved spindle motor output, the bar capacity and Y-axis travel have also been enhanced to give the new machine the ability to accommodate a higher machining capacity.
The high acceleration of the SC-200II permits the operator to machine larger parts and expand the scope and variety of components considerably. Moreover, the machine has a new frame structure that improves rigidity, performance, surface finishes and precision.

Commenting upon the new arrival to the Nakamura-Tome stable, Nakamura CEO Shogo Nakamura says: “The SC-200II is a multitasking lathe that realises ‘Next Level Machining’. We have added refinements to reduce the burden and simplify operations for workers. I believe that process integration will be familiar to many factories because of the evolution of single-turret machines. I hope that more customers will experience the ease of use.”
With a maximum turning diameter of 390 mm and a 510 mm distance between spindles, the new SC-200II can accommodate bar diameters of 65 mm (71 mm optional).
