Another unparalleled advantage for Portuguese companies are their strong export numbers. As Noel Hugo Carlos, head engineer at Tecnimoplás, explains, they do not depend on the economical situation of Portugal because most of their customers come from abroad. That way Poruguese companies did not feel the effect of the European debt crisis as strongly as other sectors.

Moulding Expo already a success

With all that in mind, Messe Stuttgart has chosen the perfect place for their press event with Marinha Grande. 150 of Portuguese tool and mould makers are based there. In some streets it is hardly possible to find a building without the word "moldes" written on it. It is easy here, to get into the right mood for Moulding Expo 2017, the International Trade Fair for Tool, Pattern and Mould Making. Among the organisers, the atmosphere is very positive as well.

At the time of the press event already 670 exhibitors from more than 30 countries had registered for the trade fair. This means 4 halls of tool, pattern and mould making with injection moulding, die-cast moulding, casting, stamping and forming tools, as well as various pattern-making and prototyping methods. Components and accessories, machine tools, processing tools, measuring technology and special machines, software, and systems and services for tool, pattern and mould making round off the scope of the trade fair.

The main goal of Messe Stuttgart seems therefore already accomplished: With moulding Expo they want to become an important part of the industry. They want to be the place for networking and for connecting customers directly with exhibitors. After the downfall of Euromold, Messe Stuttgart is doing its best to fill in the void. Looking at the current numbers the work of the organisers seems to pay off.
