10. Tackle the staff shortage proactively

The lack of suitable, qualified candidates on the labour market has been a spectre haunting the technical sectors throughout Europe for years. This starts with the lack of young skilled workers. The industry itself is to some extent to blame for this: if no one knows you, no one will be interested in you. Yet the job description of a toolmaker actually fits quite well with the typical wishes of career starters: toolmakers work creatively, with the latest technology — digitally in many areas — and have to deal with people whose highly diverse challenges they solve anew every day in their varied field of work. It’s actually a dream job that is also decently paid. The only problem is that no one knows it. However, companies have to live up to the promise made by the job description. Good tool and mould making companies have much more to offer than just a good salary, from appreciation to freedom, responsibility and career opportunities.
