The lack of suitable, qualified candidates on the labour market has been a spectre haunting the technical sectors throughout Europe for years. This starts with the lack of young skilled workers. The industry itself is to some extent to blame for this: if no one knows you, no one will be interested in you. Yet the job description of a toolmaker actually fits quite well with the typical wishes of career starters: toolmakers work creatively, with the latest technology — digitally in many areas — and have to deal with people whose highly diverse challenges they solve anew every day in their varied field of work.
