Productivity in metal cutting has constantly been increasing over the past decades — not least because of automation solutions that resulted in today's smart factory concepts. With their “Flexible Manufacturing Concept”, Erowa has been leading the way in this field since more than three decades.

Germany — Several new features in version 2021.2 of the Hyper Mill CAD/CAM suite ensure improved machining when finishing 3D shapes.

Switzerland — Swiss company Starrag Group, which specializes in precision cutting machine tools, uses Vericut NC simulation software to predict machining times. In addition to verification and optimization of NC programs, it provides a precise indication of the runtime of the optimized machining on the machine.

Germany — Cimt 2021 opened its doors in Beijing from April 12 to 17. In the largest sales market for the German industry, 150 companies are presenting machine tools, cutting tools, clamping technology, measuring technology, mould and die as well as NC controls and software.

Sweden — New computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) technology has been introduced by Esprit CAM, part of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. It provides manufacturers with the control and flexibility needed to use multi-spindle and multi-channel computer-numerical-control (CNC) machinery for the machining of long parts.

Germany — Bavarian contract manufacturer BAM is going all in with digital processes in an effort to further reduce costs and project times in contract manufacturing. With the support of Open Mind, the company has used Hypermill Automation Center to streamline and markedly speed up CAM programming.

Germany — Specialist in CAD/CAM and MES process solutions in model, die and mould manufacturing, Tebis, has broken new ground with the launch of its complete CAD/CAM system 4.1.

Germany — Tebis, a specialist in CAD/CAM and MES process solutions in model, die and mold manufacturing, is participating as a digital exhibitor in this year's Metav. The trade show will be conducted as a 3D event from 23 to 26 March.

India — Technology company HCL announced a new wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) module for the CAM Works suite of CAD/CAM software.

South Korea — Software component provider Module Works announced that Doosan Machine Tools has integrated their cutting simulation technology into their Sketch Turn product. The software replaces Doosan’s previous cutting simulation engine and is part of the group’s strategy to optimize the availability and effectiveness of machining information on the shop floor.
