Software company Open Mind will be exhibiting at Moulding Expo 2023 (June 13-16, 2023, Stuttgart) in Hall 1, Booth D42. The manufacturer will present the Hypermill CAD/CAM suite at the trade fair as an end-to-end complete solution for tool and mould making.

The CAM software Hypermill from Open Mind bears the ‘DMQP’ (DMG Mori Qualified Products) quality seal and is thus part of the DMG Mori product configurator.

In the fourth quarter 2022, the index of machine tool orders in Italy marked a 3.5 percent increase compared with the period October-December 2021. The absolute value of the index stood at 133.6 (base year 2015=100). This is a new record value for the quarter of reference.

As of February 1st, 2023, the Irish company PMT Premier Machine Tools (PMT), a supplier of machining solutions for the medical industry, will become part of the products and services offering from Seco. With this acquisition Seco will increase its presence in the medical segment offering integrated manufacturing solutions.

The Italian association for the machine tool industry, Ucimu — Sistemi per Produrre, is the firs in Italy and Europe to publish a sustainability Report for capital goods this sector. Almost half of the member companies stated that they are planning to issue a Sustainability Report in the next three years. The short-middle term goals for the enterprises of the sector are an improve formalisation of policies and processes and the carrying-out of targeted communication initiatives.

Digital manufacturing software specialist, Module Works, has opened an office in Pune, India. The new office adds to the company’s facilities in Germany, Romania and Japan and will support the company’s growing international customer base.

Mapping a 3D printing process as a continuous digital process chain from the component design to the production and post-processing is the logical consequence of a digital Additive Manufacturing strategy. This objective that Aim3D has set itself has been taken up by the Naddcon research and development centre in Lichtenfels (Germany), which specialises in Additive Manufacturing.

Researchers are now further exploiting the potential of additive manufacturing to produce tungsten carbide-cobalt tool electrodes for electrical discharge machining with an eye on industrial applications.
