Visitors to Moulding Expo can check out the Robot Compact 80 with Erowa’s FMC manufacturing concept at the company booth.

According to Erowa, Robot Compact 80 boasts numerous features. It provides an optimal ratio of a large number of magazine positions to a small footprint of 2m². It enables two-machine operation in that it can serve one or two machine tools, while providing variable magazine levels for various pallet sizes and the robot is user-friendly. The robot also can load blanks directly into the manufacturing machine.

Now this brings up the question of why blanks and pallets should be used together. Erowa says it is a question of productivity and explains that both single parts and full series can be manufactured on a system. The series are produced in small batch sizes during the unmanned shift and the workpiece fixtures mounted on pallets are changed automatically. Additionally, when the fixture is ready, only the blanks are changed, while finished parts are removed. This keeps operating equipment costs down, while enabling the high utilisation of the production cell.

The magazine levels with configurable positioning aids can be quickly and easily aligned and placed in defined positions for various blank sizes and shapes. The very same gripper can pick up cubes and round parts. Furthermore, the variable blank gripper can be modified to match the required workpiece shape easily.

Experts at the booth will be on hand to answer all queries.
