Precision tools expert, LMT Tools, and Liebherr-Verzahntechnik, manufacturer of CNC gear cutting machines and automation systems, signed a co-operation agreement recently at EMO.
LMT Tools and Liebherr-Verzahntechnik signed a co-operation contract to develop the new Chamfer Cut- CG (collision gear) and Chamfer Cut-IG (internal gear) systems, with both technology partners collaborating to continue the success story of the patented Chamfer Cut process.
According to LMT Tools, the Chamfer Cut cutting system offered by LMT Fette, which belongs to LMT Tools, has raised the process of chamfering and deburring gears to a new level. This goes back a couple of years where in a partnership with Liebherr, the tool specialist launched the first evolutionary stage of the system, while the gear machine manufacturer co-designed and supported the development of the innovative technology that included specially-developed gear hobbing and chamfering machine designs.
With the agreement now, the new Chamfer Cut-CG and Chamfer Cut-IG will be entering a second phase. At EMO 2019 recently, LMT Tools CEO Daniel Ehmans and Liebherr's Technology MD, Dr. Hans Gronbach signed a co-operation agreement for mutual exclusivity of the solutions. Liebherr is already enjoying high market penetration with Chamfer-Cuts offered by LMT Fette. Thanks to the new agreement, the latest extensions will also enable users to benefit from a high degree of process and application competence as well as long-term expertise offered by both partners.
Ehmans noted: “This strong partnership is also the result of similar values and goals that we share as companies and premium manufacturers driven by innovation.”
“Customers expect us to come up with solutions for deburring and chamfering, even for gears that are regarded as non-chamferable.” Dr. Gronbach adds.
Innovative technology, tailored machines and custom-fitted solutions underline the comprehensive approach pursued by LMT and Liebherr in their joint activities. By developing this partnership, both partners are linking their competences even further for the future. The new Chamfer Cut tools also see the experienced team relying on consistent customer orientation during the process design and implementation of the new Chamfer Cut tools, while supporting the customer develop the best manufacturing strategies. Customers can rely on tried-and-tested quality and process reliability, the companies said.
