Expoquimia and Equiplast closed their doors with a very positive balance. Held simultaneously, the two fairs organised by Fira de Barcelona have brought together a total of 20,803 visitors, which represents an increase of 10 percent compared to the 2023 edition. The commercial offer of the combined trade shows has grown by 35 percent, with nearly 800 exhibitors and more than 1,600 brands represented in halls 2 and 3 of the Gran Via venue. According to the organisers, these figures reflect the market’s interest in moving towards more efficient, innovative and responsible production models, as well as the dynamism of the chemical and plastics industries, whose solutions are essential in most manufacturing processes.

After four days of activity, most of the exhibitors and visitors have been satisfied with the development of the shows, highlighting the quality of the professional contacts generated. In this sense, the participants have endorsed the new positioning of Expoquimia that strengthens the connection between chemistry and industry, highlighting its transversal nature as a driver of competitiveness for multiple sectors such as pharmaceuticals, automotive or packaging, among others. In the case of Equiplast, the presence of the entire plastic value chain has been valued, growing especially in the fields of recycling and the environment.

Great activity tracking

The programme of activities has been well received. More than 200 have been held between the two shows, including conferences, round tables, presentations and other invited events, which have brought together more than 6,000 attendees. A participation that confirms the sector’s interest in content related to sustainability, digitalisation, new materials and the technological evolution of industrial processes.

Special mention should be made of the celebration of the Expoquimia Gala Dinner on June 3 with the attendance of the Minister of Industry, Jordi Hereu, and the Minister of Enterprise and Employment, Miquel Sàmper, which brought together more than 700 executives of the main companies and entities of the chemical industry and other client sectors of the country.

According to the president of the Expoquimia Organising Committee, Carles Navarro, “this edition has highlighted the importance of chemistry to help other sectors face the challenges in terms of sustainability and digitalisation without losing competitiveness". Navarro also stressed that “Expoquimia has consolidated its function as a space for meeting and reflection at a decisive moment for industrial investment”.

For his part, the president of the Equiplast Organising Committee, Bernd Roegele, stressed that “Equiplast has once again demonstrated its strength as a trade show, with a transversal offer representative of the plastics value chain that responds to the real needs of the market, with a clear focus on circularity”.

The next joint edition of Expoquimia and Equiplast will take place in May 2029.
