Chinese materials giant Kingfa Science & Technology has begun construction of its largest European facility in Szprotawa, Poland. The new plant, announced during the Plastpol plastics and rubber trade fair in Kielce, is set to become the company's European regional centre and marks its third major investment on the continent.

The factory, situated in the Lubuskie region near the German border, will span 140,000 square metres and is expected to produce up to 300,000 tonnes of advanced plastic compounds annually. These include polypropylene, polyamide, polycarbonate, and other materials in various reinforced, fire-resistant, and recycled forms, targeting sectors such as automotive, electronics, household appliances, and packaging.

Kingfa executives cited favourable investment conditions, strong local government support, and strategic logistics as key reasons for selecting the location. The company plans to employ around 500 people, primarily from the surrounding area.

Beyond production, the Szprotawa site will also serve as a research and development hub. According to Kingfa representatives, the facility will transfer technologies already in use at plants in China and Germany while also adapting to EU standards for sustainable development. This includes a focus on chemical recycling and biodegradable materials.

“Poland is not just another market — it is a strategic entry point for Central and Southern Europe,” said Eli Zhao, Director of Sales and Marketing, at the Plastpol event. He added that all machinery is nearly in place and the company is preparing to recruit staff.

Founded in 1993, Kingfa employs more than 13,000 people globally and exports to 130 countries. Its European operations currently include sites in Germany and Spain. The new Polish facility represents a major step in the company's expansion strategy in the region.

The announcement was made during the 29th edition of Plastpol, held from 20 to 23 May 2025 in Kielce. With around 600 exhibitors from 30 countries, the event is one of Europe’s leading trade fairs for the plastics and rubber industry.
