India’s tooling industry is moving further into the spotlight. DMI 2026 in Mumbai showed how advanced machining, automation and international collaboration are shaping the sector’s role in the country’s manufacturing ambitions.

The 14th Die & Mould India Exhibition, DMI 2026, organised by the Tool & Gauge Manufacturers Association of India, Tagma, concluded on a positive note at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. Held from 21 to 24 April 2026, the four-day event brought together more than 350 exhibitors and over 35,000 visitors, underlining its role as a key platform for the tooling and manufacturing technology sectors.

The exhibition reflected the momentum in India’s manufacturing ecosystem, with more than 35 product launches and participation from over 15 industry sectors, including automotive, aerospace and defence, electronics, and medical devices. International participation included a Japan and Korea Pavilion as well as delegations from more than 25 international companies, reinforcing DMI’s position as a hub for innovation, technology exchange and business collaboration.

“This edition stands as our largest so far,” said Mr. Devaraya M. Sheregar, President, Tagma India. "We are seeing positive momentum, with stronger order books and a clear shift towards advanced technologies, automation, and modern machining. Our toolmakers are increasingly serving both domestic and international markets, reflecting the growing competitiveness of our industry".

The exhibition covered the complete value chain, from CNC machining, additive manufacturing and 3D printing to CAD/CAM/CAE software, precision cutting tools and quality control systems. By bringing together technology providers, raw material suppliers and end-user industries, DMI 2026 again underlined its role as an important catalyst for India’s development as a global manufacturing hub.

Concluding with a note of appreciation, D. Shanmugasundaram, Vice President of Tagma India, said, “We sincerely thank all international delegates, exhibitors, partners, sponsors, and the Tagma team for their support in making this event a success. Such global participation and continued collaboration will play a key role in strengthening the industry and shaping its future.”

Established in 1990, the Tool and Gauge Manufacturers Association of India, Tagma-India, is the apex body representing the Indian tooling industry. The association supports industry development, skill-building and dialogue with government, with the aim of strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
