As 3D CAD models with PMI become central to manufacturing, metrology teams need faster and more consistent ways to turn digital product data into measurement programs. Mitutoyo CTL’s Micat Planner addresses this challenge by automating CNC measurement programming, standardising strategies and reducing manual effort.
For more than four decades, Mitutoyo CTL (Computer Technology Laboratory) has been shaping the digital backbone of Mitutoyo’s global measurement systems. Since 1983, CTL Germany has been responsible for developing high-end metrology software, but it is one achievement that the company is especially proud of: Micat Planner.
As manufacturing shifted from 2D drawings to fully annotated 3D CAD models with PMI, companies faced a dilemma: Despite having rich 3D data, measurement programs were still being created manually, slowly, inconsistently, and heavily dependent on experienced metrology specialists.
