With its temperature-control connection plates, Nonnenmann is launching another innovation for injection moulders. The company offers standardised plates for the orderly connection of temperature-control or pneumatic systems in the area of the injection moulding machine. Depending on the version, they can be used for different numbers of temperature-control circuits or connections, or for the use of multi-couplings. Selection is simple and transparent via the configurator in the online shop. The plates can be calculated, quoted and ordered either as a base plate or fully equipped and preassembled with various selectable accessory and connection components.

The temperature-control connection plates can be used directly on the injection moulding machine, enabling temperature-control connections close to the mould. Installation is simple thanks to various accessory components and can be adapted to the respective application. This enables a compact and robust design, allowing the plates to be mounted directly on the machine clamping plates for optimum use of space. Depending on requirements, specifications and the number of circuits, either a single plate or several plates can be installed.

Coming from the main water supply or the temperature-control unit, the fixed hose connection runs up to this point. The temperature-control connection plates therefore serve as an interface from which the respective mould can be connected individually. This enables short and fast setup times and creates a clear overview at the machine: circuits are visible, clearly structured and unambiguously marked by different colour codes. In addition, it allows a compact and safe hose layout. Hose clutter and tripping hazards are avoided because only short hoses are required to connect to the mould, while the supply line to the main line is already securely and permanently installed.

The use of the new temperature-control connection plates to optimise mould temperature control and machine hose systems offers users several advantages in the injection moulding process. By reducing setup times, production capacities can be increased and costs reduced. The quick and simple installation also saves otherwise necessary and expensive installation time. Additional costs are reduced and process reliability is increased by eliminating unnecessary search times and sources of error caused by incorrect hose connections. According to the company, investment in and use of the temperature-control connection plates enables an ROI of less than one year. The fixed, orderly hose layout also increases occupational safety. This connection arrangement also provides an additional safety benefit, as all circuits can be shut off individually close to the mould.

The base body of the plates consists of ground stainless-steel sheet with laser markings for flow, return and circuit numbering. Three standard plate versions are available and can be individually configured in just six query steps using the configurator. The first version is a small plate measuring 210 x 70 x 3 mm with ten ¼-inch connection holes for direct screw connection for up to five circuits. The second version is designed as a large plate measuring 390 x 100 x 4 mm and, with twelve ⅜-inch connection holes for bulkhead screw connections, offers the option of connecting up to six circuits. The third version, measuring 270 x 120 x 4 mm, serves as a plate for mounting a multi-coupling with six circuits. Additional special dimensions according to customer requirements are available on request.

As standard, the plates are mounted with one ball valve as a shut-off valve per connection and can be equipped on the mould side with all commonly available DN6 or DN9 connection nipples. In addition, couplings, hose connections, colour markings, mounting accessories and brackets can optionally be selected. All components are designed for use with temperature-control water, temperature-control oil and compressed air. In the standard application, the small ¼-inch plate version is designed for a maximum temperature of 100 °C, while the large ⅜-inch plate is designed for a maximum temperature of 150 °C. On request, operating temperatures of up to 180 °C can be achieved with the appropriate components.
