"JEC Group promotes the use of composites to all manufacturers and end-users. With this program, we spot and support composites innovation. In our sectors, it is the only program that offers this opportunity to create links between startups and major players in the industry. We are pleased to have Airbus and Daimler as main partners for this first edition " explains Anne-Manuèle Hérbert, director of JEC World and JEC Group's Shows in Europe.

The program aims at giving visibility to the innovation of composite start-ups around the world towards international investors and the entire value chain. Many start-ups have applied for this first edition of JEC World’s “start-up booster” program. Only 10 of them have been selected and will have the opportunity to present their innovation to the jury on 14 March, 2017.

“We are delighted to be part of the biggest event in the composites calendar and are looking forward to fostering the next generation of technologies to enable us to continue to grow our manufacturing capability,” said Turlough MacMahon, partnerships manager of the Manufacturing Technologies team at Airbus.

“In Startup Booster, we see a very good opportunity to get in contact with a broad network of innovative startups, exchange know-how and support new, fresh ideas in the area of composites. For us, the composite market is an important market for future developments, for example with regards to electric vehicles. These vehicles have extremely lightweight requirements and there’s still a great potential for lightweight innovations with composites, e.g. regarding crash-safe battery integration”, adds Dr. Karl-Heinz Fueller, manager material innovations and BIW concept development at Daimler AG.

JEC World will host the 10 start-ups in competition on a dedicated area, the Startup Booster Village, at the entrance of the Hall 6, a unique opportunity for these 10 startups to be visible to the 1,300 exhibitors and 37,000 visitors.

3 start-ups will then win the Startup Booster 2017 prize, a financial prize and a package worth € 15,000 including a participation in JEC World 2018.
