Small batches, new materials call for new press solutions

But where are developments in punching heading? Wiedenmann gave a global answer to this question: “There are developments and facts which influence each other and, from our point of view, lead to constantly more complex projects and solutions. These factors include, for example, small batch sizes, new products, new materials, worldwide production bases and the standardisation of tools. Usually, the customer is only prepared to pay for the standard version, but is making increasingly complex demands regarding the projects, demands that can only be solved with special solutions.” To bridge this gap, Wiedenmann said a so-called “standard building set” is a solution. “With this, one can react flexibly to the various demands. Besides, this approach has natural effects on the complete time-line for the realisation of an installation.” As far as the punch presses are concerned, Wiedenmann is sure of his position: “The challenging difference between a machine from standard components and a customer-specific installation will dominate the machine market for presses in the coming years. Only those with matching answers will be able to survive in the stagnating market.”

Spindle press with servos forms high-grade steel

Johannes Hülshorst, CEO of Aldama, said: “We have been participating in the Euroblech with our synchro-presses since 2006, and our cooperation partner, H&T Produktionstechnologie, since 2004. Of course, servo-spindle presses will be on show in Hanover. Customers will also have the opportunity to get information on transfer systems, swivel cuts, extruding machines and also on exhibits from the business field machine tool construction.” He added: “Our special emphasis this year will be on the synchro-press 1M-300, a spindle press driven by servo-motors with a punching application in the stainless steel area.” For partner H&T Produktionstechnologie, the central theme this year at the fair will be servo-spindle presses. Mike Gruner, sales manager for presses and systems, said: “The small servo-press which we are presenting as a tool trial press is a first step into the world of the servo-spindle press, that is, the smallest sized press produced from our firm’s installations.”
