VDWF Annual General Meeting German toolmaking association welcomes two new board members
Germany — Having held all VDWF events as purely digital formats last year, the association's members met again in person for the first time at the 28th Annual General Meeting on 16 September. This time, the VDWF member Fanuc welcomed the approximately 130 participants who travelled to Neuhausen auf den Fildern from all parts of Germany.
One of the most important items on the agenda of the VDWF Annual General Meeting 2021 was the election of two board members. Anton Schweiger, Managing Director of Schweiger Formenbau from Uffing, was confirmed in his office as Vice President. And in a ceremonial act, Barbara Ellinger-Walter handed over the baton of Chief Financial Officer with thanks to Kathrin Schumacher, Managing Partner of Weschu from Nuremberg. Both Schweiger and Schumacher were unanimously elected and look forward to the coming term of office.
In his address this year, VDWF President Prof. Thomas Seul pointed out how important it was to be present as an association, especially during the pandemic crisis. “Numerous digital formats also maintained the network during Corona — but 'being present' also means being perceived in politics with the concerns of the toolmaking industry and being involved in decision-making,” explained Seul. In this respect, the association has even emerged stronger from the crisis - and has also grown further in the meantime.
Despite all the positive experiences with online events, the VDWF members expressed that they had missed the personal, non-virtual get-together with like-minded people last year, especially during the breaks and in conversations before and long after the meeting. The technical discussions were therefore lively, so that at the end of the successful event, the members were able to start the new business year with fresh thoughts and a lot of energy.
