3D Measurement Creaform joins partner network of the German Association of Pattern and Mould Making
Germany — Creaform has joined the partner network of the German Association of Pattern and Mould Making (BVMF) on 1 January 2022. The company expects the membership to lead to an exchange with its members in order to establish the topic of certified and portable 3D scanning as an innovative tool for pattern and mould making.

The aim of the BVMF partner network is to strengthen the market position of model and mould making. Economic successes of the model and mould making companies also directly benefit the suppliers and economic partners. Thus, the association strengthens market initiatives in favour of model and mould making, does public relations work for the industry and helps to improve the cooperation between model and mould making companies and their economic partners.
Pierre Tanguy, Sales Manager DACH at Creaform, comments: “As an innovation leader in the field of portable measuring technology, we are very happy to join the Pattern and Mould Making Association. The professional structures of the association paired with the high degree of innovation and a family-like cooperation reflect the values of Creaform exactly. We are very much looking forward to working together.”
Creaform's 3D measurement systems and services are already used in many pattern and mould making companies worldwide. The portable and automated scanning technologies are designed to accelerate time-to-market by shortening product development processes. At the same time, they can help meet the quality assurance requirements of non-contact 3D measurement.
Product development involves designing parts (often with complex shapes and geometries), creating 3D models and minimising iterations to shorten the development cycle. With Creaform's mobile 3D scanners, new possibilities open up. Engineers and designers can create new, innovative products with complex shapes and designs. High-resolution, versatile, simple and fast 3D scanning tools and matching software are the solutions that let you achieve your goals and overcome your challenges.
The hand-held 3D scanners can be used to create 3D models from existing physical objects in reverse engineering. In addition, scan-to-CAD software provides the flexibility to clean, align and optimise scanned data, as well as the ability to extract dimensional data from the mesh before transferring the information to CAD software.
As part of the quality assurance process, Creaform's manual and automatic 3D scanning and tracing technologies help to check the dimensional accuracy of the manufactured parts while they are still in the manufacturing process, as well as to uncover the root cause of problems identified during inspections.
A Creaform 3D scanner has already been in use at Duisburger Modellfabrik for several years. The Metrascan 3D is used in the areas of quality control, virtual assembly, engineering and CNC programming. It supports many processes in the production of large foundry models made of wood, plastic block materials and foam. Herbert Schild, Managing Director of Duisburger Modellfabrik, explains: “Scanning with the Metrascan 3D offers our company great advantages. Components of large dimensions, can be scanned directly in their working environment very quickly and accurately. The flexibility, accuracy and impact of the measuring system are ideally suited to our daily changing requirements and components. As a result, we can guarantee high quality even for complex moulds and have faster time-to-market.”
