From September 8 to 10, 2026, the international community of industrial metrology experts will gather in London for the 11th edition of the 3D Metrology Conference 2026. This conference is one of the most important events in the field of industrial 3D metrology and brings together up to 200 experts from industry and academia.

The event will be held at Loughborough University’s London Campus. It is organized in cooperation with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), University College London (UCL), Tekniker, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University.

Following editions in Aachen, Hamburg, London, Bilbao, and Loughborough, the conference is returning once again to the British capital. Up to 200 industrial users and renowned academic experts are expected to attend, shaping the innovative and open character of the event.

Participants can look forward to a diverse program featuring scientific presentations, an open industry forum, special interest sessions, and dedicated networking opportunities. Prof. Peter Kinnell of Loughborough University will serve as the conference’s chairman and host.

This year’s event will focus on current developments and future topics in industrial metrology. These include, among others, AI-supported algorithms in metrology, dynamic metrology systems for robotics and automation, sustainability in metrology, and data-driven infrastructures and software architectures for processing large metrology datasets and point clouds. Other key areas include additive manufacturing, generalized scene reconstruction, and industrial applications of X-ray computed tomography.

Participation in the conference is possible as a visitor (delegate), speaker (presenter), or industry partner. Scientific papers can also be published in the open-access journal MDPI.
