Tactotek has announced that Hong Kong–listed precision molding company TK Group Limited has joined its In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE) ecosystem as a licensee. The partnership establishes the first automotive-grade IMSE electrically functional film supply chain in China and enables TK Group to serve as a global Tier 1 producer of finished IMSE products for non-automotive applications.

“TK Group’s proven expertise in IML (printing), multi-shot and insert molding makes them an ideal partner for scaling IMSE production worldwide,” said Sami Hyyryläinen, Senior Vice President, Licensing, Strategic Sales & Market Expansion at Tactotek. “With TK on board, Chinese OEM programs gain local access to electrically functional films that Tier 1 licensees can over-mold into final IMSE parts — cutting lead-times and logistics costs while meeting IATF-certified quality standards.”

“IMSE technology fits perfectly with TK Group’s strategy of global leader in providing one-stop injection molding solutions” added Boris Fu, General Manager of TK Group. “Beyond supplying electrically functional films for automotive, we will act as a global Tier 1 manufacturer for complete IMSE products in consumer, industrial, and medical sectors, leveraging our high-volume 2K/3K and film-insert molding lines to deliver lighter, more sustainable parts with value added of advanced lighting and HMI features.”

“With advanced capabilities, including high-speed printing, thermoforming, and in-house tool engineering, TK Group is already equipped to support end-to-end IMSE manufacturing. Their established expertise in toolmaking for both automotive and non-automotive applications makes them a strong candidate to become a global competence center for IMSE tooling and production,” said Marko Suo-Anttila, Senior Vice President, Customer Solutions at Tactotek. “TK Group’s in-house engineering teams bring deep expertise in tool design, process development, and design-for-manufacturing, enabling efficient and scalable implementation of IMSE solutions.”

Under this agreement, TK Group will supply IMSE electrically functional films as an automotive Tier 2 partner to Tier 1 licensees, while also designing and manufacturing complete IMSE products for OEMs in consumer, industrial, medical, and other non-automotive markets.
