Demand for plastics increasing

The country is currently number six in the European plastics market behind Germany, Italy, France, Spain and the UK. According to Plastics Europe, demand for plastics in Poland has been increasing for several years now. Long-term analyses show that the Polish industry enjoys stable growth despite the crisis of 2008/09. Production in Poland has tripled in the last 15 years. In 2014 alone, demand in the plastics sector increased by 7% compared to the previous year, according to the Central Statistical Office of Poland (CIS). This trend continued in the first three quarters of 2015 with a growth rate of almost 5%.

“The plastics industry is a key contributor to the re-industrialisation of Europe due to its knock-on effect on other key areas of the economy,” said Karl-H. Foerster, executive director of Plastics Europe. “This industry has a multiplier effect of almost 2.4 in the wider economy, that is, €100 GDP in the Italian plastics supply chain generates €238 of GDP in the national economy and for every job created in the plastics sector almost three additional jobs are created in the wider economy."

The business sector’s optimism and dynamics were already demonstrated by exhibitors at the last edition, the 19th International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing. According to the organisers, it is one of Europe’s most important exhibitions of plastics processing. The trade show brought together 800 companies from 30 countries worldwide and reportedly attracted some 18,000 visitors. In this part of Europe, Targi Kielce is just the best place to see and to become familiar with cutting-edge technologies.

For the 2014 show, the exhibition grounds had been modernised and expanded. For example, a new congress centre for 1,000 people, a multi-storey car park with 500 spaces, the west side entry terminal and improved access from the roads to Krakow, Warsaw and Lodz were all added.
