Ineos Olefins & Polymers Europe has introduced a new Recycl-IN hybrid polymer grade containing 70 percent recycled material, aimed at improving the sustainability of contact-sensitive cosmetics packaging without compromising quality or performance.

The new grade, rPP1025C, is a natural-colour polypropylene homopolymer developed for thin-walled injection moulding and fibre extrusion. Ineos said the material offers processing ease, mechanical strength and optical properties comparable to virgin polypropylene, while delivering a 35 percent lower carbon footprint.

Recycl-IN hybrid polymers combine high shares of mechanically recycled plastic with advanced booster polymers, enabling brands to increase recycled content while maintaining the strength and aesthetics required for premium cosmetics applications. The company positions rPP1025C as a drop-in solution suitable for stiff, coloured or translucent packaging components, including closures, jars, lids, mascara reservoirs, deodorant roller balls and dispenser parts.

Ineos highlighted stiffness, heat resistance and scratch resistance as key performance attributes, supporting both functionality and premium appearance. The natural base colour is intended to reduce costs, simplify recycling and allow versatile branding, with colourability described as equivalent to virgin polymer grades.

To ensure compliance for sensitive packaging uses, the recycled content is covered by an FDA No Objection Letter and certified as Post-Consumer Recyclate by Recyclass in line with ISO 14021 environmental labelling standards.

The launch marks the second Recycl-IN hybrid grade developed specifically for cosmetics packaging, following rPP2030C. Ineos continues to expand its portfolio of Recycl-IN polyolefin compounds for rigid and flexible applications across packaging and a range of industrial sectors.
