With Vinkocide BB WM, Vink Chemicals has developed a biocide formulation that keeps metalworking fluids for machine tools free from fungal and bacterial attack over a long period of time. It is easy to handle and meets strict biocide regulations.

In industrial manufacturing, metalworking fluids are indispensable for the operation of modern machine tools such as CNC milling machines. To ensure that the metalworking fluids, so-called emulsions, retain their properties during the application, they need to be protected from fungal and bacterial attack.

Vinkocide BB WM is a newly developed biocide product for the tankside addition (post-preservation) of metalworking fluids as frequently used in the metalworking industry. Vinkocide BB WM is highly effective against moulds and yeasts and shows excellent water miscibility and self-emulsification thanks to an innovative formulation.

Especially in the EU, the requirements for preservatives have recently changed considerably, affecting the tankside treatment of metalworking fluids. The current EU regulations and directives severely restrict the range of allowed biocidal active substances, as the focus is on protecting people and the environment. In the meantime, many manufacturers of metalworking fluid concentrates refrain from using biocides in order to avoid labelling of their products. This makes effective tankside treatment even more important.

The pH value of the entire metalworking fluid system has been increased to minimise the microbial growth. The now alkaline system favours fewer, but new variants of microbiological contamination, especially moulds and yeasts. Moreover, the higher pH value reduces the viable options of the remaining approved biocidal active ingredients. With the unique formulation of Vinkocide BB WM, Vink Chemicals has managed to avoid the typical disadvantages of using the three common active ingredients (sodium pyrithione, IPBC or BBIT). The new formulation, based on the active ingredient BBIT, is non-reactive with metals and remains stable for a long time at pH values of 7-12 and high temperatures.

Vinkocide BB WM shows excellent water miscibility and is easy to use by direct tank mixing. No labelling is triggered within the recommended use concentration.
