These pins, type CH with DLC-coating are said to overcome adhesion, burrs, corrosion and reduce wear.

Suppliers and buyers to gather in Stuttgart

According to the Germany-based company, DLC is an extremely thin layer of amorphous, diamond-like carbon that provides a smooth, diamond-like hard surface offering high wear protection. This prolongs the life expectancy of the ejector pins while lowering machine down times, the supplier says. Additionally, the low coefficient of friction and the dirt-repellent behaviour of the pin are said to provide anti-adhesion properties. The company notes that its optimal dry-running property also allows it to be used without lubrication, that in turn avoids the discoloring of the end product, the supplier explains.

Another advantage is that the ejectors are corrosion-resistant especially against bases and acids. The pins are resistant to high temperature, making them suitable, too, for the plastic processing industry, the company adds.

The company's know-how and references is claimed to be one reason that it has customers in more than 50 countries. Eberhard also offers custom-made ejectors. Other exhibits at the stand include Eberhard's copper core pins.
