Hauzer Circular arc coating tool finishes faster, lowers costs
The unit is said to offer all common coatings.
IHI Hauzer Techno Coating has launched a new circular-arc coating tool that it said can speed up cycle times and significantly reduce costs.
The company says that CARC+ (Circular Arc Plus) can deposit a layer of 2 µm (corresponding to 3 µm on the cutting edge) of AlTiN coating on the shaft of a tool in less than four hours. The new tool lowers batch costs by 44%, compared with regular circular-arc technology, reducing some by as much as 83%, and with improved smoothness, with an RA as low as 0.16µm, Hauzer said.
All common coatings are available, the firm noted. A number of companies are said to have already used the technology in coating ball-nose end mills with AlCrN and applying TiN coating on fluteless taps and shaft tools with TiAlN coatings. The technology is available on the Hauzer Flexicoat 850, new or as an upgrade. Hauzer said prospective users can test the technology at company sites in Venlo, The Netherlands or Shanghai, China.
