According to GF Machining Solutions, the Laser S series is a very efficient, fully digital, all-in-one laser texturing solution, which is already providing new value to two mould-makers to apply unique texture designs to challenging surfaces while controlling cost per part, reducing lead time and machining time as well as improving quality. GF says the two companies have a fully digital means of overcoming limitations of conventional and manual texturing methods, enabling them to execute complex designs with greater ease and also reduce quality deviations.
One is Reichle Technologiezentrum, Europe's leading service provider for laser texturing with over 1,000 customers across the automotive, food, medicine, aerospace, cosmetics and packaging sectors. Reichle uses ten of GF's laser machines for texturing, having stopped traditional, chemical etching years ago. It also specialises in grain repair, polishing, engraving and laser welding as well as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding.
Reichle Technologiezentrum is focused on developing new products to stay ahead of customer requirements and set new standards.

Reichle recently put the Laser S series to test. Reichle's Plant Manager Marco Reichle said that all the grainings the company's designers developed were tested on this tool before starting the laser process on a serial tool because they wanted to approve 100% process reliability of their grainings. He noted that the results the Laser S yielded was impressive: machining time was reduced by 45%, while producing higher quality, thereby generating good results with fewer patches, which decrease the risk of undesirable light reflection angles on surfaces.
The other company Piazza Rosa, which is active in automotive and packaging, has over 36 years of experience in mould concept designing and surface finishing. Its Standex Engraving Mold-Tech division is a leader in innovation, volume and capacity for laser, chemical, and mechanical engraving, offering expertise in laser hardening, engraving, welding, chemical etching and polishing as well. Standex says that it can apply geometric textures with very good results at maximum speed, while reducing machining time using the Laser S.
The Laser S series helps mould makers execute complex designs like this one with greater ease, while significantly reducing quality deviations.
